Upcoming TDWI Chapter event in Bangalore

Close on the heels of a successful event in Hyderabad, TDWI takes its campain to the heart of Indian silicon valley, Bangaluru.

The event is on 19th December. Venue is Infosys Campus in the electronic city.

We will have an eminent thought/practice leaders from Infosys, Wipro, HCL, Oracle, Microsoft, IBM participate in the Panels.

What are TDWI India Chapter Events about?

TDWI India Chapter events generally will include leaders representing Industry, IT Service providers, Captive units, Academecians.

The event generally will have Keynote address, Featured speakers, Panel discussions and fun events such as Quizzes and Raffles.

For example, in one of the latest event we conducted on November 10th, there was a Business Analytics Quiz - An Audio-visual quiz, like never seen before (with open participation of the delegates) with instant Fun Prizes!!

These event are good for :

Process to join TDWI India Chapter

There is no membership process to join the India Chapter. It is open to all professionals. However, to make things easy for communication on the events that we conduct, we encourage people to register for any of the events in the TDWI site. The registration link is :

TDWI's CBIP Program in India?

CBIP is a coveted credential to adorn any BI professionals' resume'. We have been working with TDWI US to bring to India. We would like to know the interest levels for this certific ations in India, so that we can give a projected CBIP certification that can be done based in India.. This will help us work out the logistics for Proctoring, registrations and setting up centres for conducting these tests.

A TDWI India Chapter - Activities

India Chapter is a non profit and volunteer driven organization. Our Chapter officers are spread across India.

Arun, our President is based out of Mumbai
Amrita, our advisor is in NCR
Surya and Radha is in Hyderabad
Nikhil is in Pune
Ashok is in NCR.

All of us have full time jobs and volunteer to build a community of BI professionals and create an exciting platform where we can plan various professional activities, create a strong network where there is a free flow of information and knowledge. We also envisage a forum that can be leverage for career advancement and guidance.

TDWI India Chapter - Report of 2008

The India Chapter conducted 4 events in the last year. The events were held in different cities of India. Details of the events are given below:

1. Mumbai, 01 Dec 2007
This was the very first event. It was sponsored by Accenture and over 20 BI professionals from Mumbai attended. The venue was Hotel Rodas. There were 2 sessions. Vivek Bhatnagar, Director Ingres gave a talk on Data Appliances. Another is a session on ETL-P by Soumendra Mohanty, Head of IM, Accenture.

2. Hyderabad, 17 Jan 2008
Close on the heels of the first event, the second meeting was held in Hyderabad. This was the biggest event with over 80 attendees from all major IT firms in the city. Majority of the chapter officers were present. The meeting started with a case study on BI at Bharti Airtel by Amrita Gangotra, CIO who is also the chapter president. This was followed by a session on Business Analytics by Viswanathan, Professor at the Indian School of Business. After the sessions, we had a very lively panel discussions on Future Trends in BI. On the panel were chapter officers Surya and Anoop along with Ram Chinta, VP Genpact, Ravi Nalluri, COO of Orpine technologies. The panel was moderated by Soumendra Mohanty of Accenture. The venue for the event was the Country Club.

3. Bangalore, 31 May 2008
The 3rd event was held in Bangalore, the IT hub of India. The event was sponsored by and was held in the campus of Infosys Technologies. Most of the chapter officers were present. There were 2 sessions – first by Prof. Shalini Urs, Executive Director ISIM, Mysore on Information Management. The second session was on Hadoop by Chid Kollengode, Director Yahoo! Research. The sessions were followed by a panel discussion on Next Generation BI. On the panel were BI practice heads of Infosys, Wipro, Price water Coopers and the discussion was moderated by chapter officer Surya Putchala. The event was well attended with over 70 participants.

4. Mysore, 04 and 05 Oct 2008
A 2 day workshop on DW/BI and Data Mining was organized for the post graduate students at the ISIM, Mysore. The sessions covered basic and advanced topics including ETL, Reporting, Data Modeling, Architecture, Data Mining and Methodology. The sessions were led by chapter officers Surya and Anoop along with Dr. Radha Krishna of Infosys. The class size was 35 and the sessions were very well received by the students.
